Missouri's archery season opens 6 weeks from today. The end of the long wait is in sight. Discussions about which scope, trigger, broadhead (etc.) is best will soon give way to reports from actual hunts and the forum will become much better reading (it gets kind of dull by August).

It's always too hot with too much vegetation in the early season, but sitting in a deer stand with my Excal beats anything else I could do at the time. I look forward to reading the stories from the early season hunts that will start appearing soon. The best time of the year is coming soon!

Archery for Deer starts Sept 1 in my area and Bear starts next week. I have to agree Fall is the best time of year. Now just to fined some spare time.

I hunt in Northern Virginia and their doe only gun hunt starts 2 September. Due to the way the weeks fall, there will only be four weeks of dedicated archery season during the eight consecutive months of deer season. Much like last season, I will have to carry my Micro during a gun season if I want to hunt with it much. Two of the three deer I took with my Micro last season were during gun season so it won't be anything new.
