Matrix String

Post by wvnitroman »

Good Morning All,

I have an Excalibur Matirx 355 and I don't have a spare string on hand and thinking that I should. Should I just buy an Excalibur string or should I look another direction? (I tried doing a site search for "string" but it wouldn't search for it as it was to popular) Any input would be greatly appreciated. :D

Yes,it's a good idea to have a back up. Ideally the back up should be the same (strand count/material) if you're still shooting the stock EL string just buy another one and stretch it out. Or you can have one of the string twisters here make you 2. Jefro

Another option is to contact Wyvern Creations. Dave has Matrix strings made by JBK. The JBK strings are what I use on my Matrix. Have priven to be very good quality.

I recommend a good Flemish String for the extra strength in the loops, and they really look sweet too!

Yup, definitely get yourself a pair of strings from any one of the fine string makers in the Trading section. Then put that factory string away as an emergency spare for the spare you just bought.

I just changed my factory string on my 350SE to one of these last weekend and just after sighting it in and some target practice, maybe 30 shots or so, the serving looks a little beat up. I waxed it, but I was surprised it showed a little wear and tear so quickly. The factor string with 3 times as many shots I don't beleive showed as much wear on the serving.

I am very happy so far with the string and really have the bow dialed in well with it, I just need to monitor that serving and make sure everything is good before our season starts.

Just order a spare matrix string.

If you read this article and other opinions from even the string makers such as Boo, they will be the first to tell you the factory matrix string is BEST

Temper what you read with the fact that my website needs to be updated. Current strings that come will all bows with the exception of the Cub are made with modern materials. The Cub and the older bows came with Dacron. The Matrix and other modern bows come with endless loop strings made out of Rhino, D75 or Dynaflight. Other than getting a string with a barber pole look, you really aren't getting anything that performs any better than the factory string. At best, you're getting a string that has most of the creep taken out of it. Functionally, the custom endless loop strings are no better than the factory strings.

I'm sure this bow/string/noise/velocity/optics think ain't no different than rifle and caliber debates.

I will say this, I got into the Excaliber recurve game because of its simplicity, reliability, and durability. I like the factory string and I'd step up the bow for added velocity instead of stepping up the string.

My 350 le came with a green zombie string. For back up string are the excalibur matrix strings the same?

Not sure if colour is only difference or not.

Your green string is an Excalibur factory string. Made by Dan Miller who makes them all.

If you don't make your own, go to a custom string maker here on the trading post, and a PAIR of Flemish Strings made for you. Tell them what you want most, and I would bet you'll get the best strings you could ask for! I recommend Boo, Vixenmaster, 8pt. and deerboy's Keith, work without fail. A pair from these guys will surprise you, and give you peace of mind!
