Buddy looking for 405
I know there's a forum for selling products, and I've looked there. I have a few questions for over here though as well. First, what's a fair price for a used 405? Second, is the 405 that much better than the 380 for those that have owned both? Third, who wants to sell theirs to go buy a new one???
Re: Buddy looking for 405
The 405's are pretty awesome. But I think if it were me I'd be going for a 380 or a 350. The 350 is basically a twin to the 355, but the same full treestand camo as the 405.
Most would agree that the 355 is the best all around crossbow in excaliburs lineup. Being fast, accurate and nearly indestructible. The 350 was an instant hit, with its full camo and very affordable pricetag.

Full disclosure , I've never fired a 405.
Lots with a 380, 355 in the matrix. Until I fell love with the micros.

My 380 became a backup once I got a M405. I have a 380, BD400, a M405 and a 405 coming. If I get down to only 2, they will be the 405s.884savage wrote:I know there's a forum for selling products, and I've looked there. I have a few questions for over here though as well. SEW, what do you like better on the 405 over the BD400?

Re: Buddy looking for 405
Has he checked Cabelas? I got my M405 as a refurbished unit; it came with cracked limb tip and only two arrows. Excalibur took care of the issue (new limbs and string), everything else was like new. I saved a lot of money compared to a new one. I have not looked at their crossbow selection in a while, but they may still have some.

Re: Buddy looking for 405
The Matrix fits me a little better. I have TTs in all 3 and personally have never found a problem with the BD linkage. The BD is smoother, is less stressed (longer draw length, 10# less draw weight, 20'/sec less speed, less stressed limb mounting, smaller, classier looking). No more accurate and no less either. So, obviously, I really respect the bullpup design and Excal's rendition of it.Bcxbow wrote:SEW wrote:My 380 became a backup once I got a M405. I have a 380, BD400, a M405 and a 405 coming. But, the Matrix design fits me better. The M380 virtually equals the speed of the BD400 and the M405 is appx 20'/sec faster. I'm a beanfield hunter and hunt rather open places here in an agricultural area of Arkansas.
With a C-2, cocking of the 3 bows is about the same. The 405 has a slightly flatter trajectory. But this is me. For many, the fit and gentler feeling of the BD is possibly better.

I have a m405 I will sell. I have the new style riser on it with a new string and limbs. I have not shot it yet since I got the new riser nor have I even cocked it yet. If you are interested you can call me @ 715 577-9835. Leave message if no answer and I will call back shortly.
