Zeroing in Zeiss xb70 on Matrix 380

Post by snowhunter »

I just bought my second xb70 scope. The first scope is on my Matrix 350 and sights in perfectly. I put the second scope on my Matrix 380 and the elevation turret bottoms out with the elevation six inches high at 10 yards. switched scopes with the same results. Both scopes sight in perfectly with the M350 and both scopes bottom out six inches high at 10 yards with the M380. What am I missing? Thanks

I used Burris Signature rings to get my crosshairs near optical center.

New scope?
Are you sure you're turning the turret the correct way?
Have you recently used a C2?
Have you physically compared ring base heights between front and rear?
Are your rings fully seated in the scope base?
Are your trigger unit fasteners tight?
Have you had your trigger unit out recently?
Are your scope ring fasteners tight?

It is a used Zeiss I sold him Boo but might as well be new as I sighted it in on my Matrix 330 and it was only used a few times target shooting as the Matrix 350 is my every day shooter and hunting bow.

Yes. I think they were stock Excalibur rings.

I once installed a set of rings and only one of the rings engaged the weaver mount. Talk about going crazy looking for the WTF! I've also installed a low ring with a medium!
I found an old trigger unit that had the upper part of a trigger unit bent up. Likely from someone who crank the string over the arrow retainer and kept on cranking.
There's no end to the number of screw ups that could happen.

I told him to check and make certain the rings seated correctly right off the bat. I have had that happen too.

I had a set of Hawke rings that were machined badly.
took me a wbile to figure out wby my scope sat crooked.
one side of the base wasn't machined fully and it sat up higher.

Reverse the rings(put the back ring on front of scope and put the front ring on back of scope). Tried this one time for me and it worked...don't know why?
