I have the original Bushnell Yardage Pro 400, Bushnell/Primos Truth Sport, Yardage Pro Sport and the Vortex Ranger 1400. I think they're all great and definitely recommend the arc compensation. The less expensive models have trouble reading in low light and are typically warranted for only one year. I was told that's because they consider them to be electronic devices. However, the higher cost Vortex are warranted for life and the quality is excellent. I haven't had the opportunity to test them at extended ranges on non reflective items.

What is the budget? The best one for the money is the Sig Kilo 2000. The usual price is around 499 but sometimes you can find sales that put it around 350.

I went with a Vortex Solo r/t monocular. It is 8 x 36. This uses the mrad scaling system. Took me a while to learn to use it right but once you get it you will be surprised at your range accuracy. Optics are very clean and bright and field is very good. It is built very sturdy and is compact. I find it very good for general viewing too. It comes with a really nice case and belt clip and lanyard. For xbow ranges it is all you need. it cost $85.00. I started using it for my long arms and it works very good for that as well. Also, no batteries needed.
