No hunt'n fer me,,, I'm outa here

Post by wildcatter »

Well we have had the hottest days of the year the last week, so I ain't in the mood. I refuse to hunt when it seems like growing season,, I like hunting when the highs are below 55 ot 60, and there is frost in the morning. Then we have my Salmon grounds with no water and no fish, or very few, and high temps, something Salmon don't like,,,, or me!

The bad thing is talk of the biting midge and blue tounge again, and with no rain in the 7 day forecast all the way from me to the UP that will only increase that chance,, it ain't looking like I am getting in any hurry to hit the woods,,, or the great Salmon hunting grounds for that matter, we need rain,, and we need some frost on the pumpkins!

But the bright side of this weird heat spell,, and drought! is I got a lot on 3 private lakes this summer, all settled in now, and with no speed boats no ski jets, just good old fishing water, and some dynamite fishing, from huge Panfish, to big Northern Pike,, even my favorite Yellow Perch! So,, have it Buckeyes, and others for that matter, I think most have season in now, but I'm not crowd'n ya, I got the Suburban loaded and I'm outa here! Be doing some fishing and laying back under the Oaks as the temps slowly keep back to normal temps fer this time of year. Got enough clothes fer about 10 days,,, hell I may find a laundry mat and make it twofer,,,,, good luck everyone,, take them pics quick before the meat spoils,,,,

I'm heading back up to the farm tomorrow. It has been too hot the last two weeks so I have stayed home. The latest forecast calls for lows in the upper 40s and low 50s for the next couple of weeks so it should be more comfortable. I'll fish between the morning and afternoon hunts (especially if it's cloudy) and I may concentrate on fishing for a while if shoot a deer (our season goes until Jan. 15 so I usually take a break after I kill one). The heat wave will be over soon in the Midwest!
