Equinox Screw Up

Post by ko4nrbs »

As many of you know I recently shot my Exomax without an arrow in it. Well I was horrified that I did it and that I could of been so stupid and careless. Really beat myself up over it and didn't tell any of my hunting buddies. I would have been teased unmercifully though I can dish it out as well. Sometimes our wives think we hate each other and wonder why we all still hunt together.

Well last night one of my hunting buddies called me and said he shot his Equinox without an arrow in it. He was devastated thinking he had ruined his crossbow. The string was damaged but the bow looks fine with no cracks, etc. He knew about checking it with cotton balls and will put a new string on it. I was a good listener as he vented and I tried to comfort him. After my experience there was no way I was going to slam him.

I was a coward and didn't tell him I did the same thing with my Exomax. I still have my nose stuck in the shame corner!!

Man these are tough crossbows!!

We all do it . A young kid who works for me just saved up all summer and just bought a used John boat and motor for duck hunting.
On its maiden voyage , he fired up the motor, it promptly jumped off the transom and sank forever. Hes got a good sense of humour about it. Better than mine would be lol.

Tell him you did it also. I am proud of leaving one cocking hook on the string and shooting it and seeing my blood squirt eight feet out. Never knew blood could squirt that far away from ones body. It was a lovely fine misted looking spray. The rope cocker handle smashed on my baby finger. Dryfires are a welcoming happening in my world now. It was the last time to ever hang it around my neck and shoot.

Don't sweat it , I'm pretty sure anyone saying they've never done it is lying to you or they haven't shot enough yet

I never Dri-Fired my crossbow once...

The "ping" I heard as my string hit the ADF still haunts me.

My buddy dryfires every bow he has owned at some point . We all place bets on when it will be during our shoots . With his newest bow he tried a different strategy , first shot was a dryfire on purpose just to get it out of the way he said . Going on a year now and no reported dryfires so maybe it worked .

Isn't it nice to have a crowd for such an accomplishment?
My second Dri-Fire my wife was sitting in her lawn chair and asked...What was "That" sound?
