Safest way to transport my crossbow while riding ?

In most state owned areas in WA state I can legally use my quad to get to and from my hunting area as long as I stay on roads and observed trails to do so { no, I don't hunt off of it even though legally I could with my disabled hunters plackard attached }.

This year for Late Elk Season I'll be spending more time in National Forests where it's illegal to drive anything that is not street legal and licensed. ( Quads and most side by sides do not qualify so ) In an attempt to save gas when commuing from camp to my hunting spots, as well as keeping my preferred hunting areas somewhat " private ", without advertising them with a parked truck or the bronco nearby ...

I bought, and plan on using, a new to me, ( almost new condition ) street legal, 2011 Yamaha TW 200 "Dual Sport" motorcycle with only 360 miles on it.

I'm figuring it will be much easier to " hide " once near my area, as well as quieter to get around on, while having both head and tail lights available for safety when going out or comming back in the dark.

So, I hunt mostly with a Micro, which this year will be my new 355. How do you who travel with a crossbow on a motorized bike, reccommend safely transporting it ? On the bars in a type of gun rack, on my back with a sling or perhaps buy or fabricate a rear rack and strap it on back there ?

Any ideas will be appreciated.

Yep. Backpack style bow holder. Gene, there are some good cinch straps available in various lengths that I use for my climbing stands. They can be found at many hardware stores, and on eBay. The cinch buckle is metal, and close all the way down. Be generous on the length, and they hold like a gorilla. Cheap, and effective!

I've been using my mountain bike to hunt. I just sling my bow across my shoulders. When I finally find a Honda CT 90 or 110 I will do the same. I glued a piece of foam to the grip butt so it didn't reduce my spine to rubble. Works pretty good. Good luck.

I used to ride my mountain bike on forest roads and fire roads with my Exo slung on my back, not super comfortable but it was ok. But that was at bicycle speeds. If you'll be riding at road speeds to get to your hunting area, that method would get old real fast and its probably not real safe if things go to moving and bouncing around on you on the trails (and they will). I'd go with a good backpack carrier or have a mount made to go somewhere on the bike.

I had a like new Bolt "crossbow" style back pack show up today, that I picked up for a great price from a forum member...

I'm going to get it set up tomorrow with a micro attached and go for a test ride.
