First attempt at making homemade biltong

Post by longbow joe »

Was watching about a hundred youtube and pintrest biltong making videos. Settled on the small heater/fan and cardboard disposable box method .Boy the vinager cure really cures the meat fast. Basically using molasses, soy, worchestershire , smoke flavor, red pepper and corriander mix. ....sure smells good using beef l will try deer next time if its good.one kids says smells awfull one says smells good......wifes not home yet ....probably tell me to put it in the garage. Ohh well l will report on the taste in 3 days when its done.

Probably coulda made it in the dehydrator but the idea of tossing the cardboard box in the trash when its done is golden.plus the experts say this way is better.

The small pieces are done already. The coreander and cider vinegar cure has a somewhat tangy maby lemonish tast combined with the black and red peppers. .....l like the spicy taste .definitely a successful batch. Next time im going for the thicker meat so i get the cured red meat look inside .This was a taste test . I recommend just cruising youtube for a recipe you like. This stuff is not gonna last till monday!
