I’m a big fan of Lucky Blinds. Fourth season with no sign of wear. I have left it out the entire season. Holds snow load. Does not leak. Could not be happier with it. I use the Super Star 2.

I can see the pro's and con's of pop-up/set-up blinds

cheapies are just that - pop-ups- they tend to last a season or 2 depending on conditions and weather - easy to pack in and out as needed and give some comfort against cool wet nasty days . easy to stay all day - must brush in for better concealment.

the 'HUB' pop up are generally a bit more expensive but made of better materials - thus can weigh more and be more difficult to pack in and out any distance. Trying to popup before daybreak they "THUMP" pretty loud at every side "whomp" . but are great on cold windy wet snowy days to keep high and dry. easy to stay all day. must brush in for better concealment.

ghost blind - more expensive but (from reports) easy to pack and set-up no matter where your at - downside can be the fact that they are open to the elements' and being extra prepared for all kinds of weather is a must if you plan extended stays. no brushing in needed

I have a Ameristep penthouse - like the dog house but an extra top section so I can easily stand inside- I love it. the only hassle is if you can't leave it at least a few days . packing in and out not a problem but allowing time for set-up and brushing before deer movements

all need chairs or seating of somekind - normally

Does anyone use the bigger blinds like the Barronnette Blinds? I am able to leave my blinds up all season & have an 8ft x 8ft base, the Pentagon blind looks interesting but I'm worried it wont fit my base.

i'm not into math much but if it's possible to make your base a little bigger

then a pentagon blind you speak of with 59" sides could work

Their website shows a square inner measurement of 59 x 59 but the max widths appear to be much wider due to the design, but no actual numbers given for those total measurements.

edit- Looking closer I see they show footprint dimensions of 91", maybe that is overall width

using online pentagon calculator
the diagram for blind shows 5 - 59" sides

sides 59
diagonal 95.5
height 90.8

approx.

since 8 ft is 96 ins you may just skim by since the diagonal should fit

Thanks, my platform up 20ft off the ground between 3 trees, getting in & out may be a bit dicey:) The Big Cat 350 looks to be a better fit at 70" square

As much as it pains me to say this, ive had a primos double bull blind sitting on my property for 7 years never took it down and never took it out of the elements. At this point its on its last leg but I've got to say it held up good given the circumstances. I had poles break and they always sent me new ones free of charge. Primos is spendy for sure, but they make a quality blind IMHO, and trust me when I say if you have the money to spend on this blind, taken care of un like mine it will last!

I would not go with the Big Cat 350, reason I bought one back in Nov. to replace my 15 yr. old Doghouse blind. Got it & set it up on a Wed., used it Thurs. to Sat. last of our Pa. Archery season, returned it on Sunday, & reason for returning was the material was so full of pin holes, that on Thurs. had as much water inside blind as outside blind, along with rain running in the windows, & down the inside of the blind. Called Barronnette, on Wed. after setting up with my concerns & didn't feel they cared. I have ended up with a Barronnette Blind & it is the Ox5 Blind, & really like it. The only thing with it is the needle holes left when they sewed the brush straps to the blind. I called them & suggested that since they use two materials in this blind, the outside is camo & inside is the black out material. I suggested they sew the brush straps on before sewing the black out material to the camo, and would not have the needle holes where the brush straps are sewn on. Other than that I like all the room, the windows, and being quiet when adjusting.

If you are looking for a good blind go with a Double Bull . they are pricey but you get what you pay for. I have a old Matrix and it is still good had it for at least 10 years now and leave it up all season and never had any leaks or any other problems with it and if I did it is warranted for life. Rhino Blind is another good one and they have a sale going on now .JMO.

Depending on you size, height, you might want to get an Outhouse Blind. It measures Outhouse Blind With 60" Footprint X 78" Tall, Realtree Xtra Camo Pattern, Tall Enough To Stand-up In, Ideal For Firearm And Crossbow Hunting (Ameristep1RX1S008 )

https://www.amazon.com/Ameristep-1rx1s008-Outhouse-Footprint-Ameristep1RX1S008/dp/B00V2RUNVG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1513909504&sr=8-3&keywords=outhouse+blind

Depending on if you are going to carry it to different places to hunt or put it up permanent. It doesn't weigh much and it is tall enough to see out the windows without bending over. That is the problem I had with the dog house blinds. I had to lean over, in my chair, to see clearly out the windows.

I buy 50 dollar dicks ladder stands and 50 dollar doghouses on sale. Both work nothing extravagant on either .lf some A-holio steals one its not a big deal for me. I can buy 3 doghouse blinds for the price of some others. Also the doghouse dosnt stand out like the Pentagon or white house when brushed in. Im convinced the deer do notice them more than we think.on public land l dont even use the poles on my doghouse if its not raining. 4 minute set up.

I have sat in a few of them and felt like I had been boxed up for certain after a mornings hunt. About got leg cramps from the lack of space. :(
I can stand up and move around without hitting my head in my DB blind. :)

I bought an ameristep this year, super easy to set up. The fabric looks to be very thin though, I defiantly would not leave it out all season. Ameristep also states that if left out it will deteriorate quickly
