My brother just got his Matrix 380 today via UPS and it has a small nick in it.

If the nick is that little place at the bottom of the rail I would take a black magic marker and touch it up and forget it.
I think I could guarantee you that it will never effect the performance of the bow.

It's true that chip won't affect bow performance. If you're good with a quick repair that'll make it disappear use a couple thin coats of black nail pollish. If you're bothered by the principal of receiving a brand new item that was damaged during delivery, let Excalibur know and get a replacement. If I went that route I'd also ask the courier company to return the damaged rail for no cost.

If the box had a big gouge in it like you say then this is the shipping company’s fault and they should be held responsible. File a damage claim with the carrier. I agree with the others, damage like what has been posted will not affect the performance of the bow, but it doesn’t make it right. Damaged packages during shipping are common. Unfortunately, when it happens it’s sometimes due to carelessness, so if it were me I wouldn’t give them a free pass. The shipper should be held liable.

EXACTLY! If I was to buy a new truck and when it was delivered to my door and has a big dent in the fender, NO WAY would I accept it or have them repair my brand new truck! It depreciates the value immediately! Get what you paid for!

I wolud have guessed it was a Bulldog 380 until I looked again and saw the two riser mounting bolt design.

I only mention that as I've never seen or heard of a Matrix 380 having anything other than the standard full coverage camo rail or the grey annodized rail that was used on the on the Blackouts. ( I have one of those annodized rails on my camo 380, but I put it together that way.)

I then thought it might possibly be a powder coated model now possibly being produced for this years blackouts ? ( possibly even having some type of texture ? ) Then I looked again to find a camo stock , So I'm really at a loss. I just got back from checking my 2 Micro 355's and it sure resembles the Micro rail color and texture wise other than the second bolt mounting hole ???

Either way, I love the color, and in my case, ( especially since the very small "nick or gouge" looks to be very insignifageant, ( sp ? ) and had I won it in some manner, with probably very little investment on my part ? ) I would probably touch it up wih a permanent black marker and go hunting . ( Personally, I would judge it as the fault of the people or group holding the drawing or contest or the shipping handler, rather than one I would hold Excalibur responsible for.)

But that's just me and I'd be greatful just to have won it in the first place.

The Camo looks like it's from a Matrix 330 to me.. Lol

According to Dawn, at Excalibur Customer Service, they, Excalibur did a special run for Pine Mountain Archery. The 380 run was designed to be used in a blind.

The barrel, rail, limbs, and such are black. The only camo is on the stock.

I really like it also after seeing a picture of the limited run 380 Matrix.

Now if I could find one of those black 380 rails and risers so that my Matrix 380 matched those two 355 Micro's I have with their camo stock and limbs.. I would most likely be so satisified that I could honestly stop looking forward to the yearly release of the new models.

I'm not really a fan of the Bulldog style bows and that appears to be the direction Excalibur is heading in.

2-3 Micros and a 380 that looks like a Micro 355 color scheme wise, would make me a very happy camper . :D
