Thanks everyone, it’s still a thrill that gets the heart pumping.

Hey Ken, thanks. That is only my second mature buck in 10 years so I’m no where as successful as you or some of the others. But like they say, even a broken clock is right twice a day, or twice in 10years for me. :D

Awesome buck. I'm not sure I could sit that long in those temps. That's a well earned buck. I haven't attempted an off hand shot on game yet, but I'm ready.

Hey DuckHunt, it wasn’t that cold. I picked Wednesday the 20th as it was the warmest day that week. It warmed up to about 1 degree below freezing. I have a summit climber with a large platform and large cushy seat so I can sit for a long time comfortably. I had layers of warm clothing on beneath my predator camo parka and bib pants. After about 3 hours my feet started getting cold being on the metal platform so I slipped on my Arctic Shield boot covers and no kidding, within 5 mins my feet were starting to warm up.

I have sat out in 15 degrees below freezing in the past but only for a couple of hours. Then I too start getting cold.

I’ve seen a lot of deer over those 10 years of bow hunting but only does, fawns and small bucks. Those are in season during gun week but for my late season crossbow hunting I’m concentrating on mature bucks only. I could take a doe on most of my outings but I like the challenge of getting a mature buck. That’s why it’s been 10 years and it was worth the wait for me.
