Good bye my friendly companion.

Post by BrotherRon »

We will be putting our chocolate lab down tomorrow. She is a wonderful dog and only 3 years 8 months old. This past fall she tore the ACL in her right leg and was developing a limp. When we took her to the vet they said the left one also has a slight tear because she has been favoring the other leg. They want 4,000.00 for each leg and will make no promises as to if it will work or how long the surgeries would last. Going to be very hard on my wife and I.

sorry about this ron :( . i had a german shepherd with the same issue. $3000 for the surgery on right leg. return visit to remove staples and found out that it happened to the left leg also during the time of healing from the first surgery. my heart goes out to you, its a terrible thing to have to do but it is the best thing for the dog and no more pain for them.
take care

Sad to hear.
I had to make the same decision a few years ago for our beagle/jack russell mix, and it still bothers me. I know it was best for him, but it's one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make. He was well over 12 years old though. (a "rescue" we had for over 12 years - didn't know his age when we got him)

Sorry to hear that. My lab is attached to my hip and it's going to be really hard when she goes someday..

My most sincere Condolences!
Our Furry Kids sure have a way of grabbing ahold of your heart!
Tough business, but the right thing for your buddy.

Our Big Boy is getting up there now too, and I am awfully afraid to face the eventualities... :(

Remember the good times.
And when the time is right, do consider letting another into the rather large heart of yours...

Oh my gosh! My heart is so heavy hearing this very difficult news. On September 08/17 I had to put down my 13years and 4 months old yellow lab Chrissy. She was my baby girl as I have no other youngins. I will miss her forever and she can never be replaced. Unexpectedly, my wife and I have welcomed a new American Bulldog puppy into our family three months ago. Sophie can never replace Chrissy but she is helping to fill a hole in our hearts and brings us so much joy. I'm so sorry you're going through this. My deepest condolences.

Paul

Its a bad spot to be in but your being realistic. Mourn the loss. Of your best friend . And soon give another dog a new great life as you have to that one.

In October of 2016 we had to put down our 4 year old English Setter because of lung cancer - after over $2,000.00 in chemotherapy. No one in our household has ever smoked. She was a super fit, healthy, affectionate, dog that suddenly developed a lump on her neck which led to the diagnosis. She eventually got so weak that she couldn't stand. When we had to put her down, the Vet was crying.

I know how you feel buddy, it really sucks.

Very sad.😞
I am a long time Lab lover and have watched a few go.
Each an everytime it killed me. But , I also made sure that another one came soon after, or Im sure depression would soon sink in to deep. I cant remember anytime in my life, besides a couple months here an there, that a Lab wasnt at my side.
Never forget Her, and you will meet up again.
