Trophy Ridge XV 530 IL

Post by SEW »

This scope is made by Hawke. It seems to be a re-reticled XB30 PRO. I prefer the TR reticle. Only the 20-60 yd reticles are illuminated, which is more than enough. The glass is very nearly equivalent to the Zeiss XB75. That is very impressive! Both reticles disappear in low light, but the TR has illumination on the 20-60 range marks. Way too much illumination! Still, it can be used in slightly lower light than the XB75 . It will replace my XB75 on my walk around, stripped M405.
The reticle is a little unusual but quite good, IMO. The low light usage can be extended by using a mostly depleted 2032 battery. Just turn it to lowest just when you're ready to shoot.
Additionally, the scope comes with rings and quality end caps(like the XB30).
For $114(eBay) and $129 (Amazon), this scope is quite a deal.

I have one on my 350LE and so far it seems of good quality and clarity and holds it's point of impact well. It is also nice to have the scope caps that are attached for inclement weather situations.

I bought one for my Grizzly last fall based on some one elses recommendation here on the forum. It has performed pretty well so far. The illumination really helps extend the shooting time

Got one on my Micro. I like it a lot. The only negative is the size and weight but, a very fair trade for great glass. I had an XB1 but the "fish eye" didn't sit well with me. great lens covers too.

I did buy some Vortex low rings because the ones included were excessively high.

Absolutely, it is adjustable. It goes from too bright to way too bright. The answer is to have a mostly depleted 2032 battery and turn it in just prior to shooting. Most cheaper, illuminated scopes have this problem.

For those of you who’ve experienced both how does the 530 IL compare to the Twilight?

I have the twilight & i gave my son the TR for xmas.. i'm hoping he brings his excal up to sugar camp so we can do a side-by-side and take a break from the stress of watching water boil :) my initial impression of the TR is that the reticle is busier but the twilight might be clearer... i will let u know definitively after we do the side-by comparison.
