Which one?

Post by oldmandoug »

I am trying to choose between these 2, which do you recommend and why? Was going with the assassin, but just couldn't get into it. Matrix bulldog 380 and the Micro 355

I'm going to say the Micro 355. Why, because although I have not handled one, I'm not a fan of the linkage style trigger. The 355 is a bear to cock after a while on the range, but it is compact, fast, and handles very well. I don't think a better crossbow for treestand hunting could be found in the Excalibur Line up.

Thanks for the input, that definitely is going to be thought about.

suppressor!

You get the advantages of trigger forward design with the narrow Micro limbs. Win win!! :)

Bulldog 330 Also has advantages of forward trigger but easier cocking and more forgiving matrix limb design.
Of the 2 choices you have listed in all honesty you can't go wrong.

What is important to you?

Do you need the compact wingspan of the micro because you shoot from tight spaces?

Do you need the extra speed of the 380 because you are pushing the distance envelope a little and want a little flatter trajectory when you are reaching out?

Does one appeal visually over the other?

Do you even need "that much bow" or would something else suit you just as well?

Too many variables but if I was simply comparing the two "for me" (and I wouldn't select either), but if I had to, it would be the 380. Not because of the speed but because it has longer limbs which should ultimately last longer in the long run. Both are packing within 20 lbs of (stress) of each other when cocked but the 380 is spreading that stress over longer limbs. Because I sometimes hunt super remote locations that take "days" to get in and out of, one of my "must have's" in a bow is a "Least likely to fail" clause (compared to other options). Warranty is fine but it don't help if I'm in the field when a failure occurs.

Don't be worried about Micro durability. I've had many Micros and had zero limb issues...

I think you need to cock, shoulder and shoot(hopefully) both models .

Your going to get pretty one sided opinions about both models. And they are all correct.

Fact is, both will serve you well. And both are unbelievably reliable.

Excellent choice! Twenty pounds lighter to cock and the bonus of being faster!
