Scope OCD

Post by Carnivorous »

Yep I have scope OCD... lol

I have tried several scopes and I really like the Hawke XB30 even if it is made in China! Lol

Metal scope caps
Infinite illumination adjustment
30mm tube
A reticle that isn't too busy

For my eye this scope needed to be mounted forward and low to the scope rail. I finally found some low extended scope rings however the nitrogen purge plug was contacting the ring base. Ugggg!!

Took it to the bench grinder to remove some material for a custom fit and that fixed the problem.

Good to go now!!!! :)

Thanks! By far my favourite and I have had a boat load of Excaliburs in my lifetime. Not even the Assassin makes me want to sell it.. :)

The doner BD380 came with the longer rail. I think the Nikon bolt is going to be sitting right up as far forward as it can go on that rail as well. Just waiting on the USPS fairy to visit Tim.

I too was disappointed when I discovered the scope was made in china, but I really do like it . I've gotten over that aspect of it.

Just about all of the best optics are made in China. Sad but true.

Wow...I like that rig alot , Jeff. And I too am a fan of the XB30 SRIR. Have had one on my Micro for 2 years now and it performs great. Good at low light and the infinite reticle adjustment is perfect. In fact I used it on that hog hunt.....saw black hogs coming and even though full daylight I just quickly turned it on and cranked it all the way up and I could easily see what I was doing against that black hide.

Very nice rig. I too am very happy with my XB30SR. Great scopes for the money.

I just recently added a vortex crossfire ll with the v Brite reticle to my arsenal and I must say that I am very impressed with it. For me it is the best scope to use in conjunction with my optimizer. The glass is crystal clear from edge to edge and I am finding that the adjustments are extremely close to 1/4” per click @ 100yds as spec’d.

The only thing that i am finding a little different to get used to is the 4” eye relief which changes the balance of the bulldog because it has to me mounted so far forward. Overall I am extremely pleased with it and it will probably be my go to until something comes out that fits my wants and needs better.

And yes I too have scope OCD !!
