New Crossbow arrived today ...

Post by XB I GO »

After a tough choice because we have to make this one work for us and last, we went with the Matrix 380. It will fit in the ground blind a little better than the Axiom and it is safer to backpack when it is cocked because of the anti-dry fire. The size is good, we can shoot off hand by ourselves and do not have to always use sticks. I put the Leupold on it, But the Tact-Zone is pretty nice too except I don’t care for the little triangles. The camo pattern is much darker than the Axiom and may blend in with the dark pop-up blind better. The Axiom will still get used quite often but just not when I am by myself at our little property. Next week is spring break so the shooting will begin.

Congrats on your new bow. The 380 is a very good choice. I started with the Axiom, sold it for a 330, then went to a 355, then added a 350LE, then replaced the 355 with the 380.

Congrats on what is probably the best all around bow Excalibur has made. I think you'll love it! Great game pole you've got as well... that's a tremendous Texas Dall!

The Leupold dialed right in, 6 shots and bullseye at 20 yards. Right now we have 20" and 470 grain bolts. The string was on the limbs right out of the box. The space between the bumpers and string is a half inch. From the seam where the stock and riser come together the string is about 1 1/8 inch, maybe a little more. I read that is too much. The instructions say 1/2-1". That would put it right off the bumpers. Should I get my Dad to loosen the string?

I did not use the speed measuring thing yet but the 30 yard mark is putting the bolts 3/4 inch low with a setting of 340 fps. I'll adjust that when I know what it really is.

Thanks!

Just shoot the bow as it is. The string will creep and get longer with use. If you back off the twists in the string too much, you will loosen the serving.

The M380 has been out 6-7 years now. I’ve had mine for 6 years, over 4,000 shots, same limbs. Many responders on your thread have or have had M380s.
I’ve yet to hear from anyone who’s had one not be complimentary of them. You should feel good about your choice.

I'd Say!! :D
Collected mine the first year they came out.
Must have pretty close to the same number of shots, and it has taken a LOT of game!
Best bow I've ever held, IMO the best Excalibur ever produced.
As a consequence, I'll be holding onto mine forever!

Great Choice!
You are going to Love It I'd bet!!

Cheers,
Nog
