Amsteel

Post by Hester0305 »

Does anyone use Amsteel to replace the rope in their rope cocker, If you do what size do I need to buy. This braided rope looks very impressive.

Thanks,
Eric

I realize this post is a month old, but I thought I'd weigh in. I made a string changer using Amsteel 7/64". It's plenty strong. The issue with it, though, is that it doesn't hold knots well (wasn't made to). I would be careful on a rope cocker to measure the length you need, bury the ends as instructed by Samson Rope, and use whipping knots to secure them. You wouldn't want to dry fire your bow because the knot slipped.

I use Amsteel orange from Dan on all my bows. Have for a couple years now.
I won't use anything else now.

Ive been using Amsteel on my ATV winch since 2008. Never changed or broke it yet, pulled Deer, and Moose into the tree with it numerous times. Winched myself and countless bikes from all kinds of stuck. If it will pull a kingquad from the mud to the handle bars... It'll pull a string back 12 inches haha
