My hunting clothes, other than cold weather gear, are all Scent Lok or Scent Blocker. There are many things we can try doing to reduce scent but I believe the most effective thing to do is free.....hunt the wind. That's the most successful scent elimination going.

+1 on hunting the wind. It's always been the best scent blocker that I know. I use the fresh pine needles in the unscented trash bags only to try to confuse the deer that pass by me while I am waiting for the Big Boy to work his way to me for a shot.

I'd like to add one thing---- what ever species I've hunted, . I can usually find the crap piles.

I'll immediately step in it and use their natural scent . the fresher the better!

In yrs past even taking my cap and rub it in the crap pile.

In areas where there is a lot of cattle - yep step in that too. LOL

while sitting in a stand -i'll pick the pine needles/ leaves and rub on cap - sleeves- pant legs

for yrs I've always washed my hunting clothes in plain baking soda - then put in the gaint ziplock bags and squeeese out all the air.

Thanks to you I darned near got a divorce.

My wife read your post. She got all huffy about anybody putting poop on himself, and doing it on purpose.
I explained to her that it just proves how much a guy loves his woman. To feed her and the kids, he'd just about do just about anything.

I told her that you weren't anything special, and yes, heck, I'd do the same for her. I told her that the elk I'd got were easier to get. I just hadn't had to resort to desperate measures, but I sure would if I had to. I told her that if it came down to it, I was ready to roll in the stuff.

That's when she called me a liar. She said that I was too prissy to put poop on myself.

That got me mad. I told her that the brown stain on the rug by the front door was some poop off my boots I had forgot to tell her about till now. Now that I remembered it, I wanted it to stay there. It was proof of just how much I loved her and how far I'd go in keeping her and the kids fed, and, by golly, I wanted some recognition.

I thought I was making a perfectly valid point, and doing it with considerable tact. Our marriage counsellor says "no", and don't do it again. I hope you make out better. Maybe I should convince my wife to go hunting with me. Maybe that way she could understand better just what sacrifices and hardships we have to endure.

wear cow elk urine wafers around all day pinned to your hat - spray your camo with hot bull rut(urine) scent too

I have a scent blocker duffle bag and I usually put a couple of the earth scent dryer sheets in with all my gear. I haven't been winded in a while. I also use the earth scent soap and deodorant. Hunting boots only get worn for hunting and nothing else.

Hi5, you might want to rethink the part about taking her hunting. Not sure you’d want a weapon in her hand at this point.

The animal can ALWAYS smell you, depending on factors, they may not be alarmed by you. All of these game animals can not only smell one kernal of corn for miles, they can walk straight to it.

I wash all my hunting clothing in scent free soap in the middle of summer and then hang them outside to dry for a couple of days. Once dry I keep then in Rubbermaid containers.

On hunting day I wash in scent free soap and use scent free antiperspirant so that I dont start to stink. However, the single biggest thing I do is use the wind direction and climb up high in my climber, usually over 22 feet. The higher up I am the less often I get busted. I also switch to vanilla flavored cigars while deer hunting - I believe the vanilla is an attractant. :eusa-doh:
