Cocking rope
Hey everybody. New to the Excalibur family, i just bought my 2nd Excalibur within a months time!! Anyway I just got my Matrix 380 and went to finally shoot it yesterday and the cocking rope was too short. I had to pull the string by hand a few inches. I know that is not much but I'm concerned that when I get it in the hooks of the cocking rope it wont draw back even and my accuracy will be off. I read the owners manual and it said to let the knot out in the handle if it was too short but there was no slack. Any ideas what to do? Thanks

Re: Cocking rope
its easiest to draw if you have to pull the string up to attach hooks. i pull mine up about 3-4" to attach hooks. i dont understand your concern about it drawing back uneven cuz as long as you are pulling on both handles it should draw even. im sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in

Re: Cocking rope
Its all good, makes it easier to cock. I customize the length of all of my cocking ropes for each bow depending on how much "muscle" needs to go into it.Rugerr1 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 22, 2018 4:03 pmHey everybody. Re: Cocking rope
Danney Miller can sell you a replacement rope if it is a problem 740-483-2312 but if you are just having to pull string back a short amount and it is not difficult you can leave it as is, it should not effect accuracy as long as you pull even when cocking and hooks are along the rail as you do.

Re: Cocking rope
Thanks for all the help. I'm new to the crossbows so I'm probably over concerned. The last bow I shot was a compound bow that I had since 95! Thought I would give something new a try.

Re: Cocking rope
Excalibur ropes are made to be a little short you have to pull the string back a little bit . Hook one side and pull the other back I think there is something in the manual on this .
Re: Cocking rope
I might add that you can also store and travel with the rope cocker already hooked in position, on the string.

Re: Cocking rope
I keep my rope shortened for easier cocking and leave it on at all times for a couple different reasons = I won't lose it, and it also keeps the bumpers from being ruined if the string would happen to stretch during storage.

Re: Cocking rope
Also a good tip once shared with me is to get in the habit of putting the hooks on the string from the back side, that way you can visual confirm the string is in the right place before you pull.

Re: Cocking rope
To cock and uncock, I prefer hooking my hooks positioned from underneath as mentioned above.
