Post by janesy »

Down in the Florida so I thought I would hit up a harbour freight and see about getting a little chop saw for cutting arra's . and I did just that.

Can anyone who uses one offer up any tips? Do you run the blade forward or backwards?

Ill be cutting carbon zombies mainly

Contact Kegbelly, John. I think he made one up about two years ago.

I am not sure what model you bought but I have one of these and it works great, they come in different colors.
The teeth are facing forward as you stand behind it.

I have one if these as well. It works just fine. I don’t use it a lot but it does a good job when I do. I’m not where I can check the teeth out but it’s set up as it came from the store.

I honestly say the best thing to do when making arrows is to square the ends. Get a good squaring tool and make that your most important step. I have taken "Flyers" and squared them up, and they became top performers!

Thats the one I just bought Jerry, so do you run it the way the blade came on it, or did you turn it around to cut with the "soft" side of the tooth?

Ok good, thanks! I may just get a cheap arrow and run some cuts both ways and see if one cuts better than the other

i bought the harbor freight cutter years ago. dont use it for arrows anymore. they sell different blades. the one that comes with it is more of a general metal tooth blade unless they changes models.that being said i picked up a archery arrow saw motor and made my own set up. the motor has much more power than the harbor freight. i always use a shop vac. attached for dust. dont play around with your health.

I use it the way it is out of the box.

I use mine the way it comes from the box. I also mounted it to a board and I clamp a piece of wood at the other end of the board to set the arrow length. I then cut 1/2 way through, then rotate the arrow and cut the other 1/2. The wood block keeps things pretty close. Then I use a G5 squaring tool to have a perfect end. I found if I cut all the way through I could end up with a small chip out.

The chip out, was exactly what I was wondering about. Like when cutting cynic siding or aluminum/sheet steel. Run the blade backwards and it won't chip on the down cut.
I'm going to experiment with mine and see what it likes best
