New Custom Xbow

Post by taz3 »

I built myself a Hybrid Matrix, with an older rail machined down and 380 limbs and riser. I'm still working on an idea for a custom stock, so I'm using my Phoenix stock for now. I took it out today to dial in the scope and measured the speed, at 370 fps with a new string I'm pretty happy. It still needs to stretch out more to try different brace heights, but for now the string is a good 1/4" off the bumpers. It's an great fit for me and still reasonable to cock. I find it shoots very crisp compared to my Phoenix, there's no thwang after pulling the trigger, it's click, snap and whack now. In keeping Bill's way of name his Xbows, I think this one will be named EXUVIAE.

What is the best way to change the string? I have an Excal stringer, but there's no way I was pulling it up by hand. Do you folks use a string cocker to pull it up?

That’s the only way I change my strings. I use the rope cocker to draw the stringer back. Good luck!

Once the stock is complete I'll post pics

Thanks for info with the stringer, I'm used to my Phoenix, that I was able to pull the string aid by hand.

I know one poor fella who tried to cock a high poundage excal by hand. When the string got away from him he lost two fingernails.
