I wonder if Excalibur has started shipping these in quantity yet. I know I’m on the short list at Wyvern to get one but no word yet.

I have both C-2s and a Charger. Currently, the Charger is used for the BD400 only - haven’t drilled the holes in the Matrix stocks yet. IF, there is no wrist strength problem, for range work, the Charger’s advantage is marginal at best. However, for hunting, the Charger should be much easier to use in stands or blinds. Personally, since I only own a M380, M405s and a BD400, I wish the Charger’s strings were a bit longer. However, pulling the string up to our rope cockers isn’t new to many of us; and it’s no different doing the same with the Charger.

have heard on social media, that the new charger ext crank, is making a bunch of clicks, and pops when cranking the xbow. Mine hasn't done it yet, or its not loud enough to hear it..hope they will fix it..
I got one a couple of weeks ago for my micro 335. About halfway up the rail, first one side and then the other, the rope pops as loud as a 22 short. No kidding, the sound is unbelievably loud. I sent it back.

I reached out to Excalibur and sent them a video and here's their explanation of what's going on:

"Good morning Jeff, Thanks for the video. I have showed it to our engineering staff and they were aware that it was happening and is normal. What is going on is the crank rope is wrapping around the spool and as it gets to one end it wraps upon itself and under pressure slides off and starts to wrap back the other way. In you video there where two separate clicks as each side fell into place at slightly different times. The slower you crank the more magnified the click becomes."

I would post the video here, but the file format is not supported. Cranking faster did not make any difference. I have read elsewhere other folks who have the crank and say the pop is barely audible, so maybe mine was defective, maybe not.

The old C2 crank did the same thing quite often. Otis is correct that using wax will usually fix the problem. My C2 has not done this since the first time I waxed the string well.

Got mine yesterday. I love it! Much easier to me than the old crank and, I think, safer too since the handle detaches and doesn’t go flying around and around. I have mine on a Micro 335 and it is SO easy to crank. Easy to shoot with the crank still attached to the bow too. Definitely an upgrade.

So no “pop” while you are cranking?

Oh yes. There was a pop from the right side of the crank and a jump of the string at the same time. I figure it was the string jumping itself as others described. I waxed the string some afterward but haven’t used it since. The noise really doesn’t bother me. It was very consistent - it popped at the same place every time.

Is the string on the new crank user replaceable similar to the ones on the old crank?
