OT - No call making for a while

Post by wabi »

Sorry folks, but all call making is on hold for now.
I have had a bit of bad luck in that an ear infection somehow spread to infect one eye and I have developed a corneal ulcer.
My eye doctor has high hopes we can clear it up with no permanent vision damage, but it could take weeks or months to cure.

BTW - if you google corneal ulcer and read the symptoms (red eye, discharge, light sensitivity, pain, reduced vision aka like looking through a heavy fog) it pretty well describes what I'm going through. :eusa-doh:

My wish for you is a swift and full recovery!
Having had my share of eye troubles, I well understand just how concerning they can be.
Rest up & get well Mike!

Cheers,
Matt

Thanks for the wishes for a speedy recovery!

Went back to the eye doctor yesterday and the vision is improving, but still a long way to go.
I ordered a pair of prescription sunglasses to (hopefully) let me do more outdoors since the sensitivity to light is still a big problem.
No contacts until it is completely healed, so it's back to glasses for distance correction for a while longer. :(

The initial ear infection that caused my problems is still hanging on, so I am headed to the VA doctor today (my local doctor has been treating me for 3 weeks now) for a second opinion on what is causing my problems and the best treatment for them. I usually just go to a local doctor (within easy walking distance from my house) for minor problems, but this time it didn't work out so well. The doctor I was seeing is no longer working at the office (?????? all they told me when I called was, "she no longer works here.") so I thought it might be wise to drive an hour to see another doctor. The cost to me is the same for either option, and I was due for my annual checkup at the VA anyway, so maybe I can get everything done in one trip. (the VA likes to do annual bloodwork to check all the usual things)
