To Cut or Not

Re: To Cut or Not
You will be good taking 4" off. By the time you get an insert and broadhead installed there is no way that you could stick your foot inside the stirrup without knocking the arrow loose. Just make certain you are staying over 350 grains total weight.

Re: To Cut or Not
Well if I cut off 4" I should still be at 350grs even shooting a 100gr broadhead. BEE are 9.1grs per inch.
14.5 x 9.1 = 131.95 grs
Brass insert is110grs
Broadhead is 100grs. May go heavier
Nock and vanes = ?
Total is right at 342 grains not counting nock and vanes with a 100 grain head but I have been thinking of going to a 125grs or 150gr boltcutter.

Re: To Cut or Not
Rear plastic nock is about 8 grians, that is the lightest one out there. Vanes about 6 grains each.

Re: To Cut or Not
Long arrows are generally more accurate at longer ranges than shorter arrows.
Some hunting situations are such that arrows beyond the stirrup are a non-factor.
Pick the absolute maximum you might ever want to shoot.
With an original arrow and a cut arrow, see what type of groups and trajectory you get.
Then decide whether to cut the arrows or not.
