Hey all. On October 4th I had a major setback. I'm suffering from congestive heart failure, and the cardiologist has been increasing medications since then. I had to stop going to rehab due to extremely low blood pressure, and the inability to breathe. I was told NOT to stress my heart until we get this under control. A new medicine has been prescribed today which i start tomorrow morning. I have also had an extensive series of tests on my heart in the last few days and I have some permanent damage. Right now we are working on improving my breathing, and fluid reduction in & around my heart & lungs. Next few weeks are going to determine a lot. There is term called Ejection Fraction which for me should be 55% to 70% however mine is 25% and may improve slightly. Right now no surgery is planned, but quite possible to install a defibrillator down the road. Under strict orders from my Dr. No Hunting! My diabetes has really been an issue lately as well with low blood sugar. It is really hard for me to eat late at night, or snack even. We have been trying recommended diets with increased protein & carbs on my last meal, but only getting marginally better.
I'm reading everyone's hunting stories so please keep posting them. I'll be around & post more when I know more. Thanks for all your well wishes & prayers. Hoping to get back where I was two months ago, soon!

Dan

Thanks again all. Been in ICU since last Wednesday due to fluid building up and preventing me from breathing. Had an angiogram where the catheter is inserted through the neck to view the right side of heart, and lungs to Gage function, and fluid level. Surgery tomorrow to install defibrillator to keep me alive in the event my heart rate drops too low. Medications have only worked marginally unfortunately and the right cocktail has yet to be found. There is some talk of heart transplant down the road, but we refuse to listen to this chatter right now. We have two University Cardiologists that have joined our team, and they think we can still treat this with medications, just going to take time and diligence on both fronts. I'm fine, and keeping a positive attitude however the girls, and my wife are not so strong. Please pray for them keep their strength, and faith during the next few weeks as we go forward.
