Rocket Sidewinder, Rocket Hammerhead, Spitfire XXX or Maxx, Wasp Drone or G5 Stryker. I always have at least two different types of heads in my quiver. It really depends on how far I feel like tracking on any given day.

My wife Patti and I are well prepared at Big John's bear camp up in Temagami Ont. right now waiting for the fall bear season to open wed. Aug. 15th.

Both our BE arrows are tipped with the newest SWAT X MAG 4 blade mechanical released last week.

The X MAG weighs 100 gr and SWAT includes a 25 gr
SS collar. 125 grain is an easy option.

- Two blades with a 2" cut on top of
Two blades with a 1 3/4" cut.
- 3 and 3/4" total cut. Blades are 420 steel and .036 thick.
- the additional 2 front entry blades are 440 steel.
- ferrel is 7000 series alumimum which is several times stronger the cheaper 6000 series broadheads.
- Veteran owner and employees.
- Made In The USA
- tested not to open up to 460fps.

Earlier this week I shot one 5x into my Block target replacing the included extra mil strap each time.

Not one blade was sacrificed or bent I might add. The blades still felt sharp after 5 shots into the Block at 400 fps.

Best of all each shot POI was within 1/4" of my field point POI using my crossbow and arrow combination at 25 yards.
** I might add that each user should test shoot his or her broadhead, bow and arrow combination before actual hunting.

Same broadheads as always Slick Trick standards, and Slick Trick Viper tricks, the Viper tricks are becoming my favorite, and weather in the 330 or the 380, no reason to change when you either watching fall or have less than 50 yards to track them, I'll stick with my proven ones, we will be using the same after testing then in the new tenpoints and seeing they shoot the same.

My favorite are the Sonic Bolts. They are 150 grain and consist of 3 solid blades and a ferrule. They cut on contact and are really sharp and thick. The blades are replaceable and cheap. www.americanbroadhead.com

Ok, so I ordered some slick tricks 150grn. They'll be here tomorrow, I've been shooting 150gn excalibur branded field points. Are they gonna hit close to the fields? I just don't want to use up blades and vanes if they pass through my homemade for my black bear season in three weeks. We got alot of bear on baits but files are too large to post, this will be my first and I'm stoked!

The way I see it, it would be a disservice to yourself and the bear NOT to test your actual broadhead combo in the three weeks before leaving.

I suggest one of two options.
Resharpen your ST test blades or buy some replacements.
There are plenty of ST sharpening threads on this forum using the "Search" tool bar.
The guilt of wounding a bear due to negligence is a high price to pay compared to the small cost of a repacement blade pack.

I agree, my main goal is a humane harvest and a fairly mature bear, I hope I can calm down to judge size. I will not go out without a test I am limited on budget and supplies so I was just asking before I start testing so on understand what I'm getting into. I have 6 bolts (diablos) and 2 have screwy vanes. Over the next 2 weeks I'm planning to deadlock my bow, it has a fairly new vixenmaster that hits close to my factory string and an xb30 compact. I hope to provide some pics for you fellas, you helped me with alot of my newbie questions and if God willing I can harvest one you are apart of it. I'm try to relax have fun, not overthink it and my goal is a full freezer too

I also wanted to add my homemade target is a 4'x4' target with a duramesh photo of a 250lb bear, I'm practicing the middle of the middle shot placement, I wanted the big target hopefully to pass up the little ones and not get big eyes so to speak when one walks in, I'd hate to shoot a cub after an 8 year wait for my tag.
