Whose string are you shooting? I shoot Mike's mostly and have yet to have a serving fail.

While it might sound like some strings last forever  much of the longevity depends on the condition of the latches and how you install the string. If you start by putting a new factory string at the proper braceheight, you aren't doing yourself any favors. Install a new factory string at 3/8" to 1/2" and leave it overnight. Shoot it the next day and when the string gets anywhere close to 1/4" from the bumpers, wind it back up to 3/8"+. Keep doing that until the string stops creeping so much.
Another extremely common issue is turning the string the wrong way. That often results in a serving that lasts 50 shots.
If your serving is tearing, either go to my website to learn how to make the latches better or contact Excalibur to have it repaired.
Don't get sold on custom string too fast. Thousands of people use only the factory string with great success.
