For those with an Ameristap Doghouse blind - what is this for?

Post by Tangle Eye »

OK - I've never hunted in a ground blind before but I'm going to this year. I set up in the back yard this afternoon for the first time. Everything makes sense with my Ameristep Doghouse except one thing. What is the cord for that is attached at the ends of each window? See the pic attached. Thanks.

I have 4 of them mine dont have it .must be something new.??? Possibly it just keeps it snug at the door back there. Great crossbow blind .get a baby sterno stove at walmart and one can of sterno will keep you warm as toast for 3 hours.l brush mine in that insulates em even more.

That string holds the flap as you open it and roll it down. It prevents the opened flap from laying on the ground or flapping around if it's windy out.

If you break the fiberglass poles replace them with these.

The Doghouse poles are 8 feet long so I bought their 11.3 foot poles and cut to fit. Great replacement poles for a Doghouse Blind.

I’ve read where some guys paint the outside of the cover for the window they shoot out of black. The thought is that it gets the deer used to seeing a black hole all the time. So when you have the flap down to hunt there is no difference in what is there for them to see.
Use the Black paint made by Tulip. Link takes you to the red paint.
