Words of wisdom

Post by Carnivorous »

Some words of wisdom from a well seasoned bow hunter that I try to live by to ensure I'm 100% ready to kill a deer with my bow.

#1- The entire bow must be maintained & performing perfectly!

#2-The arrows must be perfectly straight & shafts balanced to perfection.

#3-I must be in well rested, healthy overall condition. A good frame of mind from a well-organized life with proper diet and adequate sleep makes all the difference in the world.

#4-I must not be distracted by any of the craziness that life always seems to offer. I must be in good spirits and attitude and totally committed to killer arrows each and every shot.

#5-My form must be rock solid with no wasted movements or variation of proven procedures which include stance, posture, head up, consistent grip, both eyes open and zeroed in on the tiniest of arrow placement spot, increasing finger tension on the trigger, inhale while aiming, slight exhale upon arrow release, holding steady follow through till the arrow hits the target.

I know that sounds like a lot, and quite frankly, it is! Even though that is a long list of must do’s, all that still only takes a few seconds to complete and under actual field hunting conditions, such well-trained, dedicated timeliness will dramatically benefit the desired kill-shot we seek.

Each step practiced repeatedly every time at the range will imprint on our psyche and become second nature every time we prepare to shoot an arrow. That is the ultimate bow-hunter goal of out of body, stream of sub-consciousness becoming the arrow, straight into the mighty pump-station of the back-strap beasts!

Do it and feel good all over!
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

Every word I read sounded extremely familiar and from the first sentence I knew there was a Norm signature in there.

Great theory to go by jeff. I cant help but think of the keep "rested" part when l think of the my younger years when l woke up at 3am for a month straight to go turkey hunting and then to work day after day .Two months straight deer hunting before and after work. I can only think of the word ZOMBIE. .....you should mention not falling victim to zombiesm then it will be perfect but ....l dont regret the zombie stage either it was a great time in my life. Lol. Hunting and fishing have kept me out of trouble for my whole life and l am grateful for those who introduced me to them both.

I have the onyx hunt app on my phone and when I get to the stand I can send a text to my wife through the app letting her know exactly where I am. They added that feature last year and I like it.
