Gonna try a make a flemish twist string so...... with the length being 35.5 would I add another 20inch of material making it 55.5inch to compensate for string loops and etc.?
Any help would be appreciated

I'm not home so I cannot see my jig, or notes but that sounds close enough to start. What material are you using? I recommend keeping notes on every aspect as you go along as I would bet it will take a couple tries.

40 strands would be good startin pt,plenty stout. 36 1/2" from end loop to end loop, i do 15 twists in the loops. I serve mine at 35 1/2" stretched

X2 on 36.5" at the outside of the loops. Since I do 3 bundles, my counts are all different from the 2 bundle strings, but if you have questions, feel free to give me a shout. The biggest thing is to keep your loops smaller than you think. Maybe 1.5" in length when you twist them up before you fold it over. It will stretch. And remember, a lot of this is trial and error, because SO much depends on how YOU twist....how much, how tight, etc. I'd suggest keeping noted for yourself and coming up with a recipe that works for you to give you the length you want, and then practice to get consistent at it.

My advice to anyone is to buy a new unused string. Take a magic marker to mark the transitions. Unravel the string. Then put it back together. If it goes back together well, unravel it again and measure the string bundles to determine the space between the pins on your layout board.

My layout board goes... 1inch, 12,13, length of string-4inch, then 12 again
