My first crossbow deer!

Post by Tangle Eye »

Got this one with my Assassin from an Ameristep Doghouse blind on the edge of a failed soybean field. 25 yard shot with 7 minutes of legal light left; I was getting ready to leave when she showed up. Had to follow the blood trail down a steep hollow with my flashlight. Why’d she have to run down there!? Got my workout pulling her out for sure.

The pic shows the exit side just as I found her. Double lung shot as far as I can tell - just a fuzz high but it sure did the job. I used a Grim Reaper 100 grain broadhead.

This is my first crossbow kill - first archery kill of any kind for that matter.
