Firebolt Changes

Post by ko4nrbs »

Installed the Black Eagle 110 grain Brass Inserts in my 20" Firebolt arrows. Using a Nufletch Ignitor lighted nock at 39gr. and a 100 gr. mechanical broadhead. According to my Balance Beam reloading scale that combination weighs in at 479.2gr.

As a comparison if using the Excalibur flat front nock,110gr. brass insert and 100gr. broadhead the weight is 459.5gr.

The combination of the Excalibur factory aluminum insert, Nufletch Ignitor lighted nock at 39gr., and 100gr. broadhead weighs in at 394.5gr.

Using my best efforts my estimated FOC is around 16 using the Nufletch Ignitor lighted nock at 39gr.,100gr. broadhead and 110gr. brass insert .
Using this diagram my measurements were:
Balance Point 9"
A- 13.58"
L- 20.5"

Sound close?? I think I am where I need to be.

Your A & L numbers do not seem to be correct.
Your balance point length is more than the total length of arrow.

L=Correct Arrow Length
A=Arrow Length to Balance point

Thanks!!

Always wanted to move up in arrow weight so I made the plunge. Now to do some serious shooting and see what difference it makes.

Remember the firebolts are a heavier shaft...more gpi. If you were to change to a zombie or executioner wich both are lighter stiffer and stronger you would be in the 410-430 grain range
Vixen 2, metal ibex,Phoenix,sapphire,matrix 330 ,matrix 355 ,vortex and baby grand piano y25 relayer.
Trigger tecs,leupold crossbones and nikon bolts.
Zombie slayers and mostly swat broadheads.

If I didn't have a closet full of Firebolts I would seriously consider the Zombies or Executioners. I guess I could go with a lighter brass insert to get the weight down a little.

If you go with a lighter brass insert, then your FOC will also change, most likely to a lower FOC.
Heavy arrows wt. & higher FOC are not a bad thing IMO.

I had a bunch of firebolts before the zombies l switched to a 110 grain insert and 125 grain cabellas lazer strike ll. Them things would fly great and penitrate like the bigger bows out of my vixen and ibex. There is nothing wrong with being a little heavier at all.use them with total confidence
