Down River Deer Boated

Post by ko4nrbs »

Well here she is. Shot was about 14 yards. I was in my climbing tree stand. She looked up at me with deer standing all around her in the brush. Thought now or never. Slightly quartering but I got both lungs and the blood trail was excellent. Pass through with lots of damage where it counts.

Saw at least a dozen deer in this group. All does with some very large. No bucks to be seen. They are there though judging by the rubs and scrapes I found. Will head back down river a little closer to the rut.

Creek bank was muddy and steep so had to dig steps into the bank. Tough going packing the deer stand and all my other gear up and down the bank. It's such a great spot I don't fret too much. Was 48 deg F when I got up at 5am so it was pretty comfortable. I have slept out there in the boat with lows in the low to mid 30's. You get dressed fast!! Needless to say I have an excellent sleeping bag.

All four doe tags filled now. I have two Buck tags to fill yet.

I wish great hunting to you all!!

A little extra effort to have a private spot with out other people causing interruptions is worth it.

Sounds awesome, good work

We just did an impromptu visit moose hunt. We weren't successful, but boy, the water really adds a new element to the hunt.
