I filled my nj buck tag tonight ...This is the one l was hunting l passed him up twice he was out of range .but tonite the Montana decoy and ghosblind combo in the middle of the open field fooled the bugger.. he came upwind facing me the 355 matrix and a big super freak extreme to the throat dropped him .what an awesome hunt.

If I remember you stated last year it seems to follow the spine? I thought it might pass right through, or does it depend on broadhead?

Congrats on a nice buck. I love the character. I took a blowing doe at 30 yards with my Exomax once with a throat shot. When they are facing you and unlikely to present anything else, it can be very effective. Nothing beats dead right there.

Last years throat shot was angled down from the tree almost 40 yards the 305 fps ibex passed almost completely thru the length of the buck. This buck was from the ground ...a little different l would rather a broadside in the engine room anyday. But you deal with what your dealt with. Funny ...my deer never hang around for 10 minutes like on the TV shows so l dont chance a opportunity to kill the buck but other than a small target the throat is just another option. you either hit the jugular or the spine . In my opinion ...higher is better ..closer to the head the better chance in a narrower area
A big wider broadhead is definitely better in this area.
