Slick Trick Broad heads

Post by Andy in Cincinnati »

I would to thank those who recomended the slick tricks broad heads. I bought an Exocet last year with carbon arrows and started out with Muzzy 100's and they shot 4" low and to the left at 20 yds versus my field points. Last season, I ended up wounding a deer and did not find it.

Wanting to not repeat that experience, I read on this web site about broadheads and many people seemed to like the Slick Trick heads. Based upon recomendations of people on this site, I ordered slick tricks 100s this spring. They shoot identical to my field points at 20 and 30 yards.

This tuesday (October 26) I got a small 7 pt buck at 20 yards from a tree stand. It was a pass through shot and the deer only went 40 yards and I saw him fall. NO tracking! The slick tricks left a big entry and exit hole. While there are other good broadheads, I really like the slick tricks.

Thanks for your help!

Congrats on the buck, Andy! I will be purchasing an Exocet soon as well, and plan on ordering the slick tricks along with it! The guys on here seem to rave about them, and obviously for a reason. 8)

Good hunting and tight groups to you,

Did you sight in for the muzzy's or did you leave your field point sighting in?

Answer to DesertRats question

Anser to DesertRats question

I live in the city and do not have a place where I can practice without a long drive. The public range where I shoot does not allow shooting broadheads. All that being said, I sighted the cross bow in with field points did not shoot the broadheads.

After I wounded the deer, I bought a portable target that I could shoot broadheads into and found out the muzzy 100 broad heads shot differently than my field points. I also took the target to my tree stand and shot it at many different ranges from the tree so I better understood how it shoots. This fall a bought a Bushell range finder and that makes it easier to be sure I have the right distance.

I am sure the muzzys are good broadheads but for someone like me it is easier if they shoot the same as field points like the Slick Tricks do in my Exocet.

I learned a lot from the whole experience!
