Help newbie here! Problem when shooting Exocet crossbow
Hi folks,
I just was at the range on Friday to help sight in my cross bow. I was going to practice this afternoon with a target and sight it in with some broadheads and then this happened....LOL.... The bow is cocking fine, but when I put the arrow in and fire it, it makes this wonky/gong noise, the arrow barely goes 10-15 yards and the string got slung off the crossbow. I was able to re-string it and tried another 2-3 times, and the same thing happened.
Any thoughts on what might be going on? Is it OE? I haven't changed anything from when I was at the range on Friday and the bow came with a new string.

Exocet correct?
Did you try the other string you had with the package? Possibly the end loops have stretched out .
Which nocks did it come with? Are they flat?

Sounds like you don't have the string against the string.
Some people just like stepping on rakes
Re: Help newbie here! Problem when shooting Exocet crossbow
Was the string seated 100% against the nock?

@Janesy - Supposedly this string that came on it is brand new. The nocks are a universal nock. I will post pictures.

Here are the photos of the items in question.
This is after I restrung it the 2nd or 3rd time. You can see the brace height as well
This is a universal nock that came with the bow. It worked fine on Friday, why would it be having an issue now?
Here is a photo of the crossbow cocked with the nock. It looks like it is up against it correctly to me.
This is current after re-stringing again....Maybe need to adjust the height a tad more

@vixenmaster - I believe the brace height was correct on the first photo I posted. The last one, I believe it could be higher? Didn't understand your other question about slingin the string is stretched?vixenmaster wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 5:47 pmIs yer brace ht correct ? Is the hold down spring tight enough to keep the arrow from slipping forward?
If you are new at this it is easy to bend the hold down spring when cocking the crossbow.

Bob - How would I know this? Or how would I know if bent it? It seems to be fine from what I can tell?Horizontal Hunter wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 6:55 pmIs the hold down spring tight enough to keep the arrow from slipping forward?

I believe you have had a partial dry fire situation. When hunting with my Exomax I routinely check to ensure my arrow is firmly seated against the string. Doesn't take much to move it off the string especially if the hold down spring is not adjusted correctly. I only use the flat nocks the bow was designed for.

My Exomax has two lines etched in the rail. I keep the string on the line closer to the trigger side of the string. This gives me about 3/16" to 1/4" or so gap between the string the rubber string stops.
Good luck,
Bill

#1 you are not shooting a flat nock fix that asap #2 your brace height is off I prefer around served string width off the bumpers aprox 1/8 inch.
Hunt eat sleep repeat.
