GRZ2

Post by LRMNUT »

Hi All
Just join the forum and am waiting for my first crossbow to arrive today a GRZ2 have been hunting with a compound bow for years but
getting older and can't shoot as well as I once did still want to hunt and after looking at different crossbows decided on the excalibur
wasn't planning on buying one the year but found a Black Friday deal of 375 so had to go with it I been reading on your forum before
joining found a lot of good information so I was wondering if there is anything I should know about the GRZ2 just getting started I know
I will have a lot to learn just starting.
Thanks to All

Welcome!

Aside from a couple items you should be all set to go.
The only thing I would recommend is a good long shooting session to familiarize yourself and developed a safe repeatable process for cocking and loading your bow . That way when you do it in the dark, or the heat of the moment, you will be able to safely cock and load your bow without injuring yourself .

I bought one and really like it I also picked up it's big brother the G340 got a big doe with the G340 and 3 days later got a Turkey with the Grz2 . I painted the limbs on the Grz2 black to be used in a pop up blind where it will be all black inside . I use the Excalibur X act broad head on the turkey no problem went through one wing and out the other turkey went about 5 feet . I also put a deadzone scope on instead of the fixed scope that comes with it . Welcome to the forum.

Shot the GRZ2 for the first time today, first time to shoot any crossbow I started at 10 yds. with diablo bolts by easton with 150 gr. field point that came with the bow use the cross hair for 20 yds. have the fix power scope that came with bow hit 12 o'clock on the 3inch circle shot three bolts then shot three diablo by black diamond with 100 gr. field points using 20 yd cross hair hit dead center I never had to make any adjustment to the scope. I then moved to 20 yds. shot both sets of bolt's again still using the 20 yd.cross hair all bolts were dead center. I was impressed to not have to make adjustments to the scope but I thought there would be more difference in the two different weight bolts but there wasn't. I had purchased the black diamond bolts before I knew it came with easton bolts I also bought 100 gr broad heads but am thinking of going with 150 gr from excalibur most bow shops don't carry the 150 gr brand heads. I have been reading on the forum about the different weight bolt and field point broad head combinations. so I'll just have to experiment more. So far so good.
Thanks to all

Sounds like you are having fun! When I first got my Phoenix I went on Amazon and bought the Excalibur 150 grain broad heads..that was a few years ago...still try to shoot most days..if it’s not too cold out..Be careful it can and WILL become addictive

If I were you I would not shoot at the same aiming point or bulls eye more than once if you have 3 practice bolts you need 3 aiming points unless you like to buy bolts.
