Got my 1st buck with the Excal

Post by mdcrossbow »

2 days ago John from S.C. had a deflection on him. But on Saturday morning he was standing under my tree at 1st light waiting for a doe. I could only see brown and he gave me a 6 hole to shoot though some thick stuff. I couldn't see horns but knew I had a good shot on the chest. I heard him crash twice and about an hour latr I went to the area I figured he crashed and there he was. I thought he was a large doe till I saw horns. His rack is dark. Turns out he was 282 on the hoff and dressed 186. Realy a 9 point which scored 127 1/2 gross. Not bad for a early rut but. I'll get some pic's up later.

. So far we dropped 11 deer last week in 4 days for the Doc. and he paid us with a smile. We lost 3 deer in the neighborhood were we couldn't track. I feel bad about that, their dead but it's not worth loseing the job over. The buck I took was a gimmy. Most of the 11 deer were mature doe's one was almost the size of the buck. The Doc was funny . He had some friends who send him pic's of there trout fishing out west all the time. When he saw the buck he quickly put on a the camo and grabed a bow from John and had his wife take a pic. His wife said WOW that's a big deer ,But I have seen bigger horns! I said ,I like to hear that. LOL , Ya'll have a good day.

Congratulations on the success. Lot of good eating there. Don't work yourself out of a job for next year.

There is no way I can work myself out of this job. We are seeing so many deer it would take me more than a few to years to make a dent in this herd Kendo.

. Digger that bow shoots great. That 6" hole was a tight sqeeze but one I was very confadent of making with the Bow. Thanks.

Last year I droped one that dressed 220. I just bought my ATV that day and was a half mile back in. SO you can figure he was about 318 on the hoof.
