O/T Back Country Sledding

Post by Species8472 »

Spent the weekend on the sled scouting backcountry lakes for ice-fishing later this month:

The machine and toboggan (this pic is from last year) - toboggan holds about 700 lbs of gear - enough for a winter weekend and sled is rigged for deep snow - skins and full plates:

Arriving at my cabin it took me 4 hours to make it one mile down the driveway. Small trees bent over and blocking the way every 10 or 20 feet. Two large trees down as well. Snow depth was +/- 30 inches.

Out and about in the bush:

Didn't take any winter pics but have a pic from this spring (June - ish) standing on the dock looking back towards the cabin:

This is the view to the lake in the summer:

We have about 3000 feet of frontage and everything else in that picture is crown land (equivalent for Americans would be public wilderness). Crown that we border is 10s of 1000s of acres (maybe more - never really added it up) and is where I do my bear hunting.

Looks like a lot a fun.Years back l worked at a motorcycle/snowmobile dealer and just took the new latest n greatest new machine home when a snow came.Fun times . Hard to justify buying one in my parts only about 3 or 4 storms a year at best.
