I'am very happy to see a powerhouse like the 440, but I'm also thinking about the past & fast crossbows (limb issues).

Was another riser the(!) answer to all problems? At the other side: the limbs will be stretched up much further to reach 440 fps. ...Or did they (also) made a new kind of limbs for this new bow?

In short: wat is the big difference in this bow comparing with the older ones, making it bullit proof and suitable for 440fps?

Sub-questions:
-What is the weight of the new arrows?
-Is it possible to cock the crossbow by hand? (using the rope and not using the crank.)

We don't see nearly the same number of limb issues since the overheating of the limbs was identified. The limbs have seen an improvement after that so I think the number of failure will be dramatically reduced.
As far as cocking, I know one knucklehead that cocked it at the ATA.
The weight of the arrows has not changed.

The older I get, the more it aches just thinking about it. Besides, I want to support such an outstanding company as much as I can....eg, buying a new cranker!!!!

Is it really that much harder than a 405, Norm? I like this bow, but not if I can only use a crank to cock it in the field.

I didn't cock the 440 at the ATA but I really don't think you or I would require the crank to be honest.
Having a crank option should be a option choice the way I see it.

Norm is correct, although the 440 will require far more strength than any other Excal to date, it is doable. I'm 5'8 or 5'9 . I simply ran out of height and had to do a last minute tippy toe to get it the last 1/2 inch.

BUT, I will stress this, it's too much. And injury will come from hand cocking this bow if you are an average sized Joe like me. I won't be doing it again, put it that way.

Personally, I had broken limb-tip problems. (M380) Probably due to a stretched loop(string). Is this problem also solved? The loop of the string will stretch even faster in the case of fast(er) bows.

About cocking: personally, deadlifting 660 lbs (no joke), rope cocking the 440 will be feeling very easy.
Besides that: my length is helping also: 2.04 m

Micro/Bulldog riser, however I do not know if the angle is the same. It has been machined for the rubber gasket behind it, so it's definately different in ways we could not see or measure.

If you took the 405 and made it a little longer, and stout like the micro limbs . That would be how I describe it no joke, 20% harder to pull. The limbs are thicker, they don't have a soft easy start like the matrix bows.

Again I stress, this bow comes with a crank because it needs it.

A crossbow that stout needs a crank. Fer those that be also strong n stout think about the damage you will do to shoulders n back over the practice sessions. A crank is yer best friend n this model should be nutten but a Huntin model
