EBAY Scam

Post by PublicLandHunter1 »

I learned a hard lesson selling on ebay. I listed my Mathews SwitchBack XT on there as I no longer hunt with my compounds only use my xbows. It sold in 7 days and I had planned to sell my Monster Chill X next. I was paid and shipped it to the buyer. He sent me a picture of the bow case filled with wood asking when his bow would be arriving. I have asked fedex to investigate and have contacted the store I used to ship it. Ebay states I must give him his money back and that outside evidence from fed ex is not considered when they make a decision regarding liability. Sounds like a way to scam so be careful, I will not list nothing else on there ever again.

Sounds like this as_bag has done this before. So sorry to hear that. Hope you had insurance on the item. Perhaps you can turn it over to the police in his area if you have serial numbers, etc.
Good luck man!

Yep unfortunately, you need to document the entire packaging process now, including pictures and weights. And documentation of the item shipped showing the weight and paperwork. They likely will not try when they know in advance that the package is well documented.

Sadly I learned this the hard way when a package I sent was open, stolen and re sealed by a customs agent.
No help from any agency involved including PayPal.

fed x needs pictures before packed after packed (fedx sucks). another note I bought a t/c ml barrel few weeks ago from a ebay member in buffalo ny im in rhode island. moron paid $7.00 to ship it usps package went all over northeast for 15 days even headed back to buffalo. I asked for refund guy refused ebay said because I asked before it was delivered and he declined I was out but I could do it through paypal.so guy accuses me of intercepting package before it gets here and turning it around (like from outer space).then he says he bought truck batteries and a block heater with the money all through ebay msg they read it and but a hold on his paypal. ebay tells me refuse it when it comes and I will get refund. barrel shows up finally I open box bores bright with no pitting bluing is 99% made in nh Rochester $200+$7shipping. I still feel like the seller was scamming through all this I found if he had a usps acount he could of rerouted package and resold it kept my money. he did have a usps acount. seller had low feedback #.

your buyer must have done the switch  also I have sold on ebay since 08 and have 384 dealings with maybe 50 blocked bidders basic asholes. sent items back with ebay buyer protection due to being junk. with face book and forum classifieds you have a better deal.ebays winding down for me after reading your post and from dealings I had.

As a seller on ebay. I have never had a problem. Yet! One package was lost in mail for a extra week.

I do believe there can be lots of issues with dishonest people.

If I sell an item for over a 100. I request they buy insurance. Kinda trying to cover both our asses.
Rarely do they purchase.

I always get tracking info and request a signature upon delivery.

Craigslist is loaded with scammers. I'll send u certified check for more than amout . You pay the guys pickup charge and keep extra. AVOID ANY DEALS LIKE THIS

i got porch pirated once and ate fees and also sold an electronic audio piece on ebay and had to refund. found out down the road that it was a practice that this type person would take the 6-8 screws out and just enough to change the cover over switching and giving you there broken crapomatic while they took your good one. then they blame you for selling a non working unit. even with documentation they will claim it was damaged during shipping. since you are the shipper its all on you. ebay isint all bad but it only takes one bad transaction.

eBay is all about the buyers and no protections for the seller's. I sold a couple of items there and never will again even though I only lost a few bucks on postage when a buyer decided to change his mind after the deadline was up and the money had been released to me. eBay still went to bat for the buyer and made me pay his return shipping and took the money out of my account to refund him. I got the item back and listed it in the classifieds on a forum and sold it in about 15 minutes. No problems with that buyer.

eBay is not a good place to sell anymore. It is actually not very good for buying, either. The scams are ruining it for everyone.
I would watch that buyer carefully and see if they try to sell the bow they scammed you out of. Long shot, but it might provide proof they did receive it.

I would get with e bay customer service and see if they can be of help this buyer needs to be reported and perhaps they can fix the money issue .
I have bought many things from e bay and all have gone very well I only buy from very high rated sellers in the U.S.A the over seas trans actions can take 3 or more weeks to get your package.

For us Canadians, eBay has unfortunately turned into an over priced Amazon or an overseas import knock off safe haven.

Not to mention the additional fees we now have to pay at check out for brokerage and taxes. Last I checked we had a border agency for that kind of thing. I haven't bought anything from eBay in years now. Too bad, it was once a great site.

Man thats a bummer you got ripped off. I used to be a power seller on ebay but the seller fees and the general hassle due to non-paying buyers or jerk-offs got to be too much. I'm all for buyer protection but the seller needs protections from unscrupulous buyers too. I've bought insurance out of my own pocket on more expensive items I've sold just to protect my own tail. Hope it all works out to suit you.
