This Sucks, can't hunt with an Xbow in my state.

Post by williamN »

I always read the law as you need a special disabled permit to use a CBow during bow season but thought during regular firearms season it was ok. I just got a reply to an e-mail from the Dept. of game stating you need a special permit anytime.

Now that the new toy we are planning on buying is just going to be a backyard shooter should I just go with the lower cocking force of the Vixen over the Exocet. I found a place here in the states that have both and there is only $10 difference in price. Should I stick with the Exocet for the added velocity as my shooting range is 0-60 yds or save a few lbs on cocking force and go with the Vixen?

Of course I do have a pain in my shoulder that I have been meaning to see my doctor about 8)

It's up to you, but the Vixen would be my choice. A target never "jumps the string", and that reduced cocking force & "stroke" will make it a little less strenuous for a long shooting session.

Sorry to hear your state only lets permitted hunters use a crossbow. Here in Arkansas anybody can use one during bow season. I use a Vixen and took a nice buck this year with it. Got a complete pass thru with a mechanical head.

For the extra $10 I'd go for the Exocet. It's usually a lot more money between the two models. You never know. The laws may change like they did in several other States.

Ifin ya have the time write a letter to your parliment about changing the archery season to include x-bows. If my memory serves me some states have recently changed their laws to allow x-bows during archery season because of people lobbying the governement.

Start the ball rolling.

Just my opinion from up North here in the cheap seats!

What Sandman said..

The only reason that crossbow aren't legal in a state is the unfounded opposition from the "bowhunters"

Let your voice be heard.. The more peopel that speak up for crossbows the better chance that you will be able to use your hunting tool of choice in your state.

In the meantime travel to Ohio if you can...
