Soon to be crossbow hunter, I hope!!

Post by Cousneddy »

After lurking on this site for the past couple of weeks I am going to look at and shoot a Excalibur tomorrow. I found a dealer about a 1 hour drive that has a indoor range. With all the rave reviews from you seasoned crossbow hunters I believe the Excalibur is the one to have. I love the simplicity of it! I grew up bowhunting but have quit several years ago, just got tired of keeping a compound tuned. I was in a bass pro shop last month looking at crossbows, and the only one that felt good and balanced was a Ten Point. I shot 3 position small bore rifle in college and learned how important balance and feel is to accuracy. I can't wait to get my hands on the Excalibur. Will get either the Exocet or Exomag. I'm thinking either will do fine for our bama whitetails.

I have to thank all that post on this forum, I've read 20 something pages of it in the last couple of weeks.

Thanks, Ed

I think you will be happy with the exomax, that is the one I bought and it shoots the center out of targets at 40 yards. Now, go out and reduce the population of whitetails here in northern Alabama and make our highways more safe.

Welcome to the forum Ed!
I use an Exocet for Ohio whitetails and it seems to be plenty. If you keep arrows below 400 grains the speed is sufficient to minimize "string jump" within 30 yards, and 30 yards seems to be a reasonable maximum range for most deer hunting situations I encounter.
