What kind of deflection numbers are there for BD400, 420,440 bows?

Post by Smong2000 »

Curious about what numbers are showing up or expected. I sent in a bow with splintered 58's that were replaced with 69.5's. The bow is shooting considerably faster, between 25 to 40 fps faster according to the scope ring adjustment needed. If anyone has pictures showing the profile difference between 'high output' limbs and the original BD400 limbs, I would love to see them. Thanks

I cracked a limb (by dry firing my bow within 2weeks of owning it). My old limbs were 53. The new limbs Dawn sent me were 67. The new limbs were noticably faster and I was penetrating my bag target past the fletchings (wasn’t doing that before). Had to substantially beef up my target. I was very pleased with the new limbs and I thanked Dawn for them (and, I no longer minded the $80 “dryfire fee” she charged me). Dawn also sold me the Guardian ADF which has earned its weight in gold by now!

Later, I bought a whole new front end from Danny Miller to get a forward matrix riser (sapphire has a swept back riser). The limbs Danny sold me were marked 70 but they were 1 FPS slower than the 67’s. I now have a set of backup limbs (funny, neither sets match my stock camo, but I don’t care).

I had the same thought as you after i got the new limbs. Wondered if Dawn slipped me some "super duper Assasin limbs". My speed dial jumped up 20 fps with the new limbs. I only used a chronograph (at the local bow shop) after I got my forward riser and shot 326.

For what it's worth, got this answer from Excal customer service:

"We are always making small in line changes to improve our products. We have made some small changes to the matrix limb. The base of the limb that goes into the pocket is slightly thicker and the radius on the edge of the limb is now molded instead of sanded off.

New limbs are available for $200.00 per set. No hard and fast rules with how much extra speed however.

Thanks guys, been out of the loop due to illness. Better now and tried to shoot the new limbs a few times yesterday in the garage. Surprise, I can barely cock the beast by rope now! I'm not too disappointed because I know that I am a little weaker than a month ago and I have a crank for it...
Gotta put an arrow over a chrony one of these days just to see what they are doing. Might just have a 'real' 400fps/400gr now.

It is written in Sharpie on the inside of the limbs under the pocket...

Splintered a limb on my Equinox and the replacement limbs were definitely faster. Shooting around 345 with 410 grain arrows. :eusa-dance: Higher the number the faster the limbs?
