That 's a good looking Vixen!

So 290 fps is about as fast as I've seen from a Vixen... is that all coming from the string?

And... how do you like the string dampeners on the Vixen?

It’s the Vixen II. I’m using a Boo custom 40 strand Flemish string at the upper brace height. The S5 string suppressors are all you need to reduce string oscillation and vibration! I can get up to 295-297 fps with 350gn arrows! Don’t forget these are brand new limbs and string.

You only gotta file the cheekpiece not the stock. Lol. A 1/8 hole is not gonna ruin the thing. I had a foam pipe on mine or maby about 8 of them all scattered about the woods getting ripped off on bushes.l thought you put a micro stock on that bow anyway?

No that was my very first Pink Camo Vixen II. This bow now is brand new. The pink Vixen II that I had is the one I put a black micro Stock on. That one has been sent down the road a long time ago!

How did you get a bow rated to shoot 285 FPS with a 350 grain arrow to shoot 290 FPS with a 400 grain arrow? A flemish string should not make up that speed as you should have been around 268 FPS with the 400 grain arrow.

I can only show and tell what it did. I think between the Flemish string and the new low deflection limbs are what is causing the extra speed. The arrows actually weigh in at 399.2gn each. My chronograph may be off 20fps according to Rex at Scorpyd too!

My wife had a Pink Vixen II it was pretty sweet. She has a Matrix 350 now but I need to build her a small Micro. The Vixens are real Shooters for sure.

Well the Flemish string most likely weighs more than a factory string which would cause a slight loss of speed from the lighter factory string no matter what the string material is. :eusa-think:

A Flemish string you gain speed especially over the factory strings!

Care to explain how a heavier object can move faster than a lighter object with the same force applied?

Ask Boo he can explain it better than I ever could. All I know his strings add speed! If it doesn’t rain tomorrow I will video the weight of the arrows and video the shots & the chronograph.

I believe Boo made the string out of Astroflight string material too.

Ok, don’t get me wrong I shoot only custom strings (including Boo’s) because in my experience Flemish strings last longer, are usually quieter, produce less shock and look cool as hell. But on all 3 of my Excalibur’s the 1992 string is faster by 7-12fps. I just don’t care about the little extra speed for the trade offs.

My hunting setups always shoot much slower! I like around 450gns with Broadheads, arrow weight and lighted nocks.

My vixen 2 .with string whiskers /Flemish string /dr stirrup limb silencers shoots a 435grain zombie at a average speed of 255 to 260 fps.Not complaining either ....basically shoots thru all broadside deer and then some.
