OT: Need a new prop

Post by janesy »

:wtf: and a gearcase, and a mid section, and a driveshaft, and a cowling, and housing cover.

The good news... It was ready for a service anyway. :eusa-popcorn:

Happy Thursday, help yourself to a laugh on me!

Well that's an awful problem  , hope your insurance covers it.
Hopefully nobody was hurt, looks like a serious hit (if it wasn't stolen).
My lower unit was stolen from a dealers yard when it was in for service a few years ago. They replaced it of course but it took a week.

I wasn't there. But By the sounds of it it was pretty spectacular. The lower unit and half the driveshaft housing went 12' straight up, when it came back down the prop mush have still been moving a good clip, it torpedo'd across the surface before it sank.

It's being covered, and I'm happy. But this is the chance you take when you lend out your stuff.

Back to Temagami to try to recover the remaining pieces hahaha. Sounds like the prop didn't take a hit, so it may still be serviceable.

You mean, good thing there was an old Johnson 20 horse in the woodshed with a tank and a line.

I don't have a kicker.

Doh! That looks like a rock impact. I've found rocks to be very unforgiving. Any contact at all causes significant carnage, even what seems like a light bump cost me a cracked lower unit. Any prop impact at all bends aluminum props up horribly even at really low speeds.

Good luck getting things back up and running. Hopefully the harsh impact didn't cause any issues higher up.

It's toast. Even the cowling cracked all over .
Power head is possibly salvageable. Engine components will be ok. For parts

That looks horrible, glad nobody got seriously injured, and you're covered for the damages. I have some relatives, and friends that I wouldn't loan a sledge hammer to. :eusa-hand:
