OT - Improved health & deer calls

Post by wabi » Sun Jun 23, 2019 8:39 am

My health and eyesight have improved to the point that I have decided to once again make a few deer calls. :eusa-dance:

I have decided to make up a limited number of calls over the summer to offer to forum members later this summer/or early this fall. I will have plenty of time to properly finish them that way and will not have to rush the process and risk selling one that is not the best quality I can produce.

These are NOT ready for sale yet, so please wait until I post them in the “Trading Post” section before contacting me about purchasing one!
(Also take note that since the forum’s PM system is not notifying me of a waiting PM, email ( [email protected] ) is the only way of contacting me reliably.)

I have selected a few colors of laminates to produce, and will also add one or two natural wood types. I have not come up with a firm price yet, but unless prices on materials rise they should be in the range of $35.00 (USD) each. If I decide to make a couple with premium wood they will be more, of course.

The colors pictured are:
1 - Fall Camo
2 - Evergreen Night
3 - Raspberry Liquorish
4 - Zebra
5 - Osage Orange (natural wood)

Sorry for the poor quality picture, all I had with me was my cell phone and I took the picture under artificial light in my shop. I will post better pictures when I offer the calls for sale! (Looks like the picture wants to post on it's side, too. LOL But I think you can read the numbers OK.)

Thank you all for the compliments and indicating you are in the market for another call.
Norm, I did not receive an email from you ????, but I will make sure there is a raspberry/liquorish call reserved for you.
I am only going to make a limited number of calls, but I will try my best to see those who have commented on their interest to purchase gets one.

I might also mention that I have cut down on the time I spend on the computer. I now only (usually) check and answer emails in the mornings. I finally added a smart phone (cheaper android) to my accessories and since I can check weather forecasts, get news, and communicate with close friends and family using it, and the fact my aging computer may not last forever, I only get one the computer once a day.

I am going to order some call making supplies soon since I'm low on material now, and I plan to order enough blanks to make at least 6 fall camo and evergreen night since I think those colors will be in most demand. Not sure of the total number I will make this year, but hopefully I will still be able to repeat the process next year.

BTW - after the scare with my eyesight (corneal ulcers) I have actually purchased some safety equipment to use when turning wood on the lathe including a face shield for eye protection!
