.....I have always been curious of this question.
.....In The Peoples Republic of NJ at a minimum I have to travel about 30 minutes to a range that I belong to....and sometimes the archery range is closed to accommodate the youngin's who are taking free archery classes....If they range is closed I have to travel to a sanctioned TPRof NJ range but you must carry a valid hunting license in order to use the range....and I have been checked twice already!

I travel about 24 miles too, sometimes farther when I also go to the gun range outside. I can go to my in-laws about a mile away when they are not outside, or not home.

I’m great full that I live on an old farm. I go out the door and walk about 20yds and can start shooting. I can shoot between the buildings out to 125yds or along a field for about 300yds. It’s also very nice hunting land up here in Wisconsin!

I stand about three feet from the house. I set targets at 20, 25, 30, and 40 yards.

....If it were up to me I would move into New England in a heartbeat....NH- "Live Free or Die" or Maine- "The way life should be"......however I have one big problem....we have a 23 year old daughter with Downs Syndrome....she is wonderful and I wouldn't change things for the world

...all her friends and ties are her in The People's Republic....my wife would never move...

.....so I am stuck with it....

Outside. I've shot in the front and back yards. My preferred place is the back yard where I have a picnic table set up in the back corner next to my privacy fence. It is roughly 70 yards across the back so I can really stretch it out if I want to. It also helps to hug the fence when the dogs are outside. They go into hunt mode any time you shoulder a weapon so you end up with critters down range that want to help.
I'd have to travel a mile or so down the road if I wanted to shoot farther than 70 yards.

We have a archery range , rifle out to 300 , 2 trap fields , 2 skeet and a 50 yard handgun if I did that .

twenty minutes out the back door and up the mountain.
Can run them out over 100 up there.
Other place we often go is a Rancher Buddy's place - about 45 minutes away.
Same range distances.
For him just out the back door.
For us, it's fun with friends...
Cheers,
Nog
