Fletching

Post by catclr »

What distance are your vanes from the end of the arrow shaft?

Would there be any reason, not to be as far back as you can get?

With the rear plastic nocks installed about 1.25” too far back gets you deep into the trigger assembly. I don’t think another 1/8” back would hurt though.

LIghted nocks i go 1 1/8 I like to go more forward so my fletching doesn't get hung up on the anti dry fire mechanism ...

I'm the opposite. I've seen absolutely zero difference in terminal accuracy when the fletchings are bunched up under the ADF vs not. They fold to the outside. And 1/8" forward of back are not going to keep it from hitting the ADF catch. It's always behind the ADF catch.

The heavier the arrow I build with usually a fixed head, I want the fletchings as far back as possible to take advantage of ever little bit of available leverage during flight. That's when it makes the most difference.

In a 100Y accuracy competition it may make a difference the extra milisecond it takes to straighten the fletching. But for rational hunting distances, not a concern

I will either set them with a BE nock, or a fully seated luminock. And I should mention they are blazers and always in perfect condition or replaced
